Most of the earth is covered with water, so why should water be a problem? Numerous studies reveal that less than 1 percent of the world's water supply is fresh water. Pollution and drought play devastating roles in potable water depletion, so water shortages are a reality. Do your part to conserve water by cutting down on how much your family uses at home.

It's important to set timers for shorter showers, and you should only run the washer and dishwasher with full loads. Instead of growing water-intensive lawns, consider installing an alternative. Artificial grass has environmental benefits over traditional grass. Growing native plants in your yard also limits any extra water usage. Plus, since artificial lawns don't require lawnmowers that send pollutants into the air, it can help Mother Earth in a couple of ways.
